DC2RVA Spotlight – Randy SelleckJune 29, 2016
Randy Selleck, DRPT’s Rail Planning Project Manager, has big plans. Randy is helping develop the future of high speed rail service in Virginia and currently serves as the Deputy Project Manager for two Southeast High Speed Rail project in the Commonwealth: DC2RVA and Richmond to Raleigh, NC.
His responsibilities include assisting in rail improvement efforts and serving as an advisor to outside agencies and localities on high-speed rail projects. Randy holds a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University and brings regional insight from his former position with the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission (RRPDC). At the RRPDC he managed the complexities of their Long-Range Transportation Plan and Travel Demand Modeling Programs.
Having seen the Great Wall and hiked a volcano in Costa Rica, this explorer and daytime urban planner is now setting his sights locally on the 123-miles of track between Washington, D.C. and Richmond.
Randy is dedicated to this important project, “I’m looking forward to the development of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement and in-depth analysis of the alternatives, particularly the options being considered in Richmond.”
Randy also brings past experience as a photogrammetrist to the project. He has experience coordinating aerial photography flights, data collection and ortho-photography production on various projects for DRPT and sister-agency VDOT and will put that knowledge to work in reviewing aerial photography of the expansive DC2RVA corridor.
When not working on the DC2RVA project, Randy enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, playing the guitar, and dreaming of his next great travel adventure.
