Federal and state railroad officials will host a meeting Tuesday evening on a proposed high-speed rail project between Richmond and Washington, D.C.

The meeting will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Dorothy Hart Community Center, at 408 Canal St. in Fredericksburg, according to the Free Lance-Star. The officials are from the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation and the Federal Railroad Administration.

They will discuss options developed so far for the Southeast High Speed Rail proposal, a 123-mile corridor that would allow trains to travel up to 90 mph between Richmond and Washington, the Free Lance-Star reported. The Richmond-to-Washington line would be part of a larger high-speed rail corridor that would stretch south to Florida and connect to a Northeast high-speed rail network.
